Textile Pests – Identify the Cause Early

Textile pests are often discovered through damage to clothing, carpets or stored fabrics. The insect itself is not always visible – the first sign is usually a small hole or loose fibres.

Across the Uusimaa region, we regularly work in properties where the issue has been linked to long-term storage, storage rooms or protected structural spaces. Not all textile damage is caused by moths – in many cases, beetle larvae feeding on natural fibres such as wool, fur or feathers are responsible.

Simply removing visible insects rarely solves the problem if larvae have already spread. The key is accurate species identification, assessment of the extent of the damage and determining the source of the infestation.
